Retro/New Store Design Proposal & Energy Savings
Eco-FX v Existing manufacturer
Flaws in the current design
- Poor sign lighting dark spots and poor uniformity.
- More suited to the clothing or retail market not food.
Issues in the current design
On close inspection of the design & existing products, we have identified several issues
- Typical design - over specified
- Too many spotlights
- Biggest waste of energy is the 70w CDM-T lamps and due to the low ceilings & dark walls, they are producing too much of a disability glare issue
- Dark areas created - cave effect under bulkhead & near counter
- Uncomfortable to sit under Ceilings low & too dark
- Poor visibility around counter/disabled WC Counter area - dark around waiting area
- Glare issues due to high intensity CDM-T lamps Spotlights used to illuminate floor not the surrounding walls
- Internal signs & logos very patchy - high intensity areas
Summary
For Retro or New design Eco-FX Vs Existing can achieve:
- Like for like luminaires and lamps can be obtained and savings can be made
- Redesign could provide savings throughout
- Reduce cave effect and disability glare
- Illuminate brand logos correctly
- Remove high intensity 70w CDM-T lamps (too intense for low ceilings 2.2m high)
